… to find this delicatessen place called Karamanlidika. The menu offered tapas dishes and this restaurant kicked off all of our great meals on this trip.

Today marks four months since we returned from Greece. As you can see I am a tad behind on this post. To be honest, part of me loves that our travel posts are on a delay from our life abroad posts for a couple of reasons. 1). I love to be reminded of our trips such as where we stayed or what we ate and it gives a chance to reminisce over the good times. 2). Kevin is the picture-taker and he usually gives me HUNDREDS of photographs to leaf through, which I’m sure you can sympathize and imagine that it takes a boatload of time to edit & decide which ones to include.

One thousand two hundred sixty-three.

This was a trip of a lifetime and the number of pictures proves it. Due to this volume, the decision has been made to divide Greece into three parts: Athens, Naxos and Santorini. This was the course we took to see, explore, and fall in love with this beautiful country. So, we must begin in the place that we started and ended our marvelous 11-day vacation to Greece.

We flew direct to Athens from Frankfurt, which was a hop, skip and a jump with our flight time less than three hours. And yes, we are well aware of how spoiled we are! Top of our agenda was to see the Acropolis. The Parthenon is located at the Acropolis and it’s crazy to imagine this former temple dates back to 438 BC. It was fun to check out the site, take pictures and feel the sun kissing our faces.

A special note to the ladies that might visit this cultural landmark. By all means, leave the heels at home. Believe me, I get it – you want to look cute and they match your outfit. However, there is so much gravel that your pretty shoes will only get dirty and worse, they may just cause you to fall down. And sadly, we witnessed this occurrence a couple of gasp-filled times.

Prior to taking this trip, I had a discussion with my friend Alicia about what I was going to eat in Greece. It was during this talk that I realized I have never tried grape leaves in my life, so I knew it would be one of the first things I would eat. We used tripadvisor to find this delicatessen place called Karamanlidika. The menu offered tapas dishes and this restaurant kicked off all of our great meals on this trip.
